Thank you for visiting my web site.

I hope that as you browse through the site, you begin to see that birth can be a very special and wonderful event for a family.  The information presented here is intended to give you a vision for what birth can be.

Please read and research.  By using a midwife and giving birth at home, you can avoid the routine interventions of hospital birth that often lead to further complications, all too often ending in a cesarean section.  Most women do not go into the hospital expecting to end up with major surgery, but this is often the case.  The national cesarean section rate is up to 30 percent nationwide. The rate for cesarean section in the home birth study referenced below was 3.7 percent

A June 2005 study which included 5,418 women planning home births with Certified Professional Midwives was published in the British Journal of Medicine and led them to conclude that “For women with low risk pregnancies in North America, giving birth at home bears similar risks of intrapartum and neonatal mortality as giving birth in hospital, but planned home births are associated with lower rates of medical interventions.”
